AMSilk Reinforced the Development and Research Team for Biosteel Fiber

German biotechnology company AMSilk has appointed Martin Lankes as its senior fiber product manager. Mr. Lankes used to work for adidas as product staff of research and development.  But now he is responsible for supporting the AMSilk’s Biosteel fiber research and development.



AMSilk's Biosteel fiber is a new generation of silk biopolymer which is based on spider silk protein. Biosteel fibers manufactured on a commercial basis by the patent technology which is an animal-free process are powered by renewable resources.

Martin Lankes worked for R & D department of Patagonia, the US outdoor clothing giant. He also worked as marketing trade at Helly Hansen, a Norwegian outdoor clothing brand. Martin Lankes even served as product specialist of Gore-Tex and Windstopper of WL Gore & Associates. He has also worked as a senior product developer in the adidas innovation team. In the past four years, he is the brand manager of Skylotec at the aerial work protective clothing industry and rebuilt the brand Gentic.

"AMSilk not only has a unique product, but also the biotechnology company that can produce Biosteel fiber in the world. I am fascinated by many different Biosteel applications and are looking forward to further assisting in the development and marketing of highly functional Biosteel fibers," said Martin Lankes. Severin Bertsch, fiber business leader, said that Lankes will assist AMSilk's future goals to be developed and implemented.

Severin Bertsch also added, "With his expertise in the international textile value chain, experiences in innovation and product management, and acknowledge of product standards development, Lankes will further push our high-quality functional products to another level."

2016 adidas announced the world's first pair of sports shoes made of Biosteel fiber.

This pair of prototype shoes is characterized by its upper is made of 100% Biosteel fiber, adidas said that this provides a functionally important "unique combination" attribute, for example, 15% lighter than traditional synthetic fibers, and may become The most powerful all-natural material.

At the same time, AMSilk recently said that the company will work closely with the yarn manufacturer Gruschwitz Textilwerke to develop high-performance products with Biosteel fiber.
