New Cotton Production is Higher Than Expected in Pakistan


According to the statistics of Pakistan Cotton Ginning Association (PCGA), as of November 1, the cumulative amount of Pakistani new cotton market reached 1.383 million tons, an increase of 17.1% comparing with the 1.181 million tons production in last year. New cotton processing capacity of 1.146 million tons in 2017 and it was 966,000 tons of the same period in last year.

 New cotton cumulative sales of 1.051 million tons, it was 870,000 tons in last year. There are 34,000 tons for exporters, 1.017 million tons for national textile mills. The unsold new cotton stocks are 330,000 tons, it was 310,000 tons in last year. The number of cotton to be processed is 236,000 tons, but it was 210,000 tons in last year.

According to reports in Pakistan, although the cotton planting area in Pakistan is lower than the target set by the beginning of this year, sufficient rainfall has obviously restored the cotton acreage and the output of new cotton is higher than previously expected. The Cotton Crops Assessment Board (CCAC) in Pakistan may raise its cotton production in 2017/18 to 2.193 million tons, of which 1.496 million tons in Punjab, 629,000 tons in Sindh and 68,000 tons in other areas.
